Photographer Kees Scherer is one of the initiators of World Press Photo. Several Scherer photobooks were published by De Verbeelding publishers, with text by Willem Ellenbroek, including ’24 hour Amsterdam’ 1957 – ‘Kees Scherer’s Amsterdam’ 1993 – ‘The Paris of the 1950’s’ 1998 – ‘Kees Scherer, Visual narratives of a street photographer’ 2008.
