FOR SALE, 7000 vintage gelatin silver prints

The photography market is going through a difficult time.

Certainly due to the millions of photo productions via camera phones and massive digital photo prints.

But the interest in lesser-known, analogue and historically marginalised photography only continues to grow.

So the unique work of Kees Scherer (Amsterdam 1920-1993 Amstelveen) will certainly not decrease in value but will only increase.

However, in connection with the switch from my gallery to a studio with my own work and my advanced age of 88, I am parting with this unique vintage black/white silver print collection by Kees Scherer which I have been allowed to manage for 20 years. I am now offering the entire collection of over 7000 vintage prints for sale. The starting bid is € 30,000 and bidding is possible until 22 December. I will keep every serious buyer informed of the latest bids. The collection covers a period from 1949 to 1965 and are all printed by Kees Scherer himself (beautifully) on baryta paper in the format 18x24 to 24x30 cm. An overview of 3000 archived and scanned prints can now be seen on the  link.

The remaining 4,000 prints are still in Ilford and Kodak boxes.
