Photographer Kees Scherer is one of the initiators of World Press Photo. Several Scherer photobooks were published by De Verbeelding publishers, with text by Willem Ellenbroek, including ’24 hour Amsterdam’ 1957 – ‘Kees Scherer’s Amsterdam’ 1993 – ‘The Paris of the 1950’s’ 1998 – ‘Kees Scherer, Visual narratives of a street photographer’ 2008. It’s a ‘must have’ for enthusiasts and collectors of Scherer photos! Expositions of his work can be viewed in, amongst others, Huis Marseille, FOAM, Onze Lieve Heer op Zolder, and Grote Kerk Naarden during the Naarden Photo Festival, etc. There will probably be an exhibition on ‘100x Scherer as his 100th birthday soon.
